Now Enrolling for Upcoming Pharmacy Technician Classes:

Pharmacy Technician Training Program

Everything you need to know about becoming a pharmacy technician is right here. Still have questions? We’re just a call or text away.

Program at a Glance

Our pharmacy technician program covers everything you need to enter the field prepared and certified. You'll learn prescription processing and verification, drug classifications, dosage calculations, and pharmacy law. We go beyond the basics with medication safety, sterile and non-sterile compounding, insurance billing, and inventory management. The curriculum spans both retail and institutional pharmacy environments, and every student completes a hands-on clinical externship before graduation.

What You'll Learn

In our pharmacy technician program, you'll gain hands-on training that includes sterile and non-sterile compounding per USP 795 and 797 standards, the same standards used in hospital and specialty pharmacy settings. From prescription processing and dosage calculations to pharmacy law, pharmacology, and IV preparation, our curriculum covers both retail and institutional pharmacy environments. You'll graduate work-ready, with skills employers are actively looking for.

Hands-On Clinical Experience

Learning in the classroom is just the beginning. At Rx Tech School, every student completes a hands-on clinical externship that puts your training into practice in a real pharmacy setting. You'll work alongside licensed pharmacists and experienced technicians, applying what you've learned in an environment that mirrors the job you're stepping into.

Career Outcomes

Pharmacy technicians are in demand — and growing. Graduates of Rx Tech School are prepared to enter the workforce immediately upon completing the program and passing their national certification exam. Whether you see yourself in a neighborhood pharmacy, a hospital setting, or a specialty clinic, the career paths available to you are broad and the need is real.

Certification (PTCB)

Upon completing the Rx Tech School program, graduates are eligible to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) national certification exam. Passing this exam earns you the CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) credential, which is recognized by employers across the country and required by many states and pharmacy settings as a condition of employment. Our curriculum is designed with the PTCB exam in mind, so everything you learn in the classroom directly supports your success on test day.

Yes — the CPhT credential earned through the PTCB is accepted by employers and regulatory bodies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. It is the most widely recognized pharmacy technician certification in the country, giving you the flexibility to work across a broad range of settings and locations. Keep in mind that some states also require a separate state registration or license in addition to national certification. Requirements vary by state, so we encourage you to check with your state’s Board of Pharmacy if you plan to practice outside of Louisiana.
