Once you complete the program, you’ll be prepared to sit for the PTCB national certification exam to earn your CPhT credential. Your next step starts before you even walk across the stage.
Yes — students are offered a choice of up to three externship locations. Whether you’re drawn to retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy settings, we encourage you to explore different environments before you commit to a career path. Experiencing more than one setting gives you a broader perspective, stronger skills, and a better sense of where you’ll thrive as a pharmacy technician.
Yes — the CPhT credential earned through the PTCB is accepted by employers and regulatory bodies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. It is the most widely recognized pharmacy technician certification in the country, giving you the flexibility to work across a broad range of settings and locations. Keep in mind that some states also require a separate state registration or license in addition to national certification. Requirements vary by state, so we encourage you to check with your state’s Board of Pharmacy if you plan to practice outside of Louisiana.
